Woman shot dead over witchcraft accusation

Two young men have shot a 60-year-old woman for trying to bewitch a resident in Janga, in the West Mamprusi Municipality, Ghana, according to reports.

“The woman was killed by the men believed to be the sons of the man that the deceased was allegedly trying to bewitch,” according to eyewitnesses.

The assailants came into their house and started firing warning shots, one gave a warning shot and brought my mother out and shot her,” the deceased’s daughter said.

“The deceased’s daughter cried out to the police to arrested and jail the assailiants for thier crime,” reports said.

Meanwhile, Parliament is currently considering passing the anti-witchcraft bill into law. If passed, the bill will among others criminalise witchcraft accusations and related offences in Ghana.
