Gabonese people are called to the polls on August 26, according to the draft calendar published by the Gabonese Election Center (CGE).

Incumbent President Ali Bongo is still keeping his candidacy for a third term under wraps.

But the Centre Gabonais des Elections (CGE) has already announced the draft electoral calendar.

From this draft, we learn that the Gabonese people will be called to the polls on August 26. The electoral calendar starts on July 11, 2023, with the submission of candidacie

On August 11,2023, the campaign for the presidential election will begin. Candidates for the legislative and local elections will start campaigning on August 16, 2023.

Campaigning ends on Friday August 25, 2023. Voting for all three elections will take place on August 26,2023.

A major first in the published provisional timetable is that the presidential, legislative and local elections will be held on the same day.

While the published timetable remains provisional, it must be confirmed by government decree.

But it is in the government’s interest to make every effort to organize the presidential election within the constitutional deadline, i.e. before August 27, 2023.
