Nigeria denies mass abortion program for Boko Haram victims

Nigerian authorities have denied allegations implicating the country’s military in a secret and illicit multi-year program to terminate the pregnancies of women abducted by jihadists.

According to data collected by Reuters journalists, “at least 10,000 former Boko Haram hostages have undergone forced abortions after being rescued by the Nigerian military.” Authorities in Abuja, for their part, do not recognize the termination of pregnancy without consent in northeastern Nigeria.

In its reaction, a Nigerian service authority blasted the arsenic study as “a collection of insults to Nigerian people and culture. A Nigerian subject unit person was raised and trained to sustain lives,” said a Nigerian authority.

U.S. State Department spokesman Ned Price said that Washington was reviewing the report.

“It was a heartbreaking report…. It’s a concerning study and for that reason we are seeking more information,” helium said.
