Central African Republic: protestation against the re-election of President Touadera

The global provisional results of the National Authority of Election declare the outgoing president Faustin-Archange Touadera re-elected from the first round with 53,92% of the vote. Voices are already rising to protest this re-election of president Touadera.

In front of Anicet-Georges Dologuélé who totalize 21,01% of the vote and Martin Ziguele who came at the third position with 7,46% of the vote, president Touadera was announced winner of the presidential election in the first round by the National Authority for Election which is the institution in charge of the election in the Central Africa Republic.

These provisional results still need to be validated by the constitutional court no later than 9 January.

While the supporters of president Touadera are already celebrating their candidate’s victory, the opposition announces already that it will protest the results and denounces among other things “massive fraud”, a lack of “transparency” and the fact that many central African do not go to the polls.
