Nigeria: a son killed his mother with a hoe

A 30-year-old man has clubbed his mother to death for refusing his request of N20,000 in the Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria.

“The boy asked his mother to withdraw N20,000 with his Automated Teller Machine card and bring it to enable him to purchase clothes to attend the burial of his late mother’s friend,” reports said.

The woman returned and handed him N10,000 instead of the N20,000 he wanted.

He refused to collect the sum offered, leading to an argument.

“She kept insulting me in the kitchen where she was making food. So I became tired and hit her with a hoe,” the man said.

The suspect is already in police custody and he confessed to the crime during interrogation.

An investigation is ongoing.
