Rwanda: Paul Kagame’s decision on DR Congo refugees

Rwandan President Paul Kagame says his country will no longer offer refuge to people fleeing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Decades of instability in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo have forced scores of refugees across the border into Rwanda.

“This is not Rwanda’s problem,” said Mr Kagame, adding: “I am refusing that Rwanda should carry this burden.”

Authorities in DR Congo accuse Rwanda of supporting the M23 rebel group, which the country has always denied.
