EU doors now closed to Cameroonian fish

Deemed “non-cooperative” in the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing, Cameroon has received a “red card” from the European Commission.

Imports of seafood caught in Cameroonian waters or by vessels flying the Cameroonian flag are banned from entering European Union member states.

Along with St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Comoros and Cambodia, Cameroon is the fourth country currently on the European Commission’s “red card” list, which states that illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing is “one of the most serious threats to the sustainable exploitation of living aquatic resources.”
