French media RFI and France 24 have launched the seventh edition of the Africa App Challenge under the theme “digital at the service of sustainable agriculture”.

This challenge is open to all Africans and companies from the continent with a project applicable in French-speaking Africa.

Projects must be submitted in French and candidates must demonstrate innovation. As the continent with the most arable land in the world, Africa is also in the midst of a digital revolution that favors the emergence of start-ups and developers of African markets.

Challenge App Africa 2022 intends to support the development of innovative digital applications for sustainable agriculture in a context of global warming and raw material shortages.

Applications can be submitted on appafrique.rfi.fr until January 10, 2023. The winner will receive €15,000 in funding to develop his or her project.

The themes of the first six editions were health (2016), girls’ education (2017), sustainable development (2018), urban development and smart cities (2019), digital for the fight against pandemics (2020), digital for children’s education (2021).
