Panic after schoolboy allegedly poisoned sweets for teacher and classmates

A schoolboy from a primary school in Foumbot in western Cameroon is in police custody after allegedly poisoning his teacher and all his classmates, Cameroonweb reported.

This happened after the teacher sent the schoolboy to buy her sweets which she was to distribute to those who would answer the questions.

The teacher collects the sweets after the little boy buys them from a store near the school. She then consumes part of it and gives the rest to schoolchildren who find the right answers during the course.

After eating the sweets, a dozen schoolchildren and their teacher feel unwell. They are interned in intensive care at the Foumbot district hospital. Some in critical condition are transferred to Bafoussam.

Symptoms and first analyses, the medical staff speaks of rat poisoning. Anything that raises a lot of questions.

Could the sweets have been in contact with the rat poison in the shop? Did a criminal hand add rat poison to candy on purpose?

Foumbot police opened an investigation into the case and took the schoolboy who bought the sweets into custody.
