Zimbabwe: unvaccinated workers barred from work

Zimbabwean authorities have ruled that all civil workers who have not been vaccinated against covid-19 be expelled from work with immediate effect.

According to the Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa, the government had given its workers “ample time” to get Covid-19 vaccines.

It’s not clear how many civil servants are affected by the cabinet’s decision and whether they will continue to receive their salaries or be able to work from home.

Out two million Zimbabweans, only 12% of the population are now fully vaccinated.

The majority of public school teachers are not vaccinated.

Zimbabwe has so far recorded a total of 127,000 cases including 4550 deaths.
