Several European countries will recognize a Palestinian state

This Wednesday, May 22, several European states announced that they wanted to recognize the existence of a Palestinian state as of Tuesday, May 28.

Initially, it was Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre who made the announcement, before being joined by the Irish and Spanish Prime Ministers, Simon Harris and Pedro Sanchez.

“The government has decided to recognize the State of Palestine,” said the head of the Norwegian government during a press conference in Oslo, specifying that the decision would be effective from May 28.

The Norwegian Prime Minister also launched “a strong call” to other countries to do the same.
