Brian Banks spent years in prison over false accusation

The 16-year-old high school football star has been accused by a classroom of rape at Long Beach Polytechnic High School in Southern California, United State.

The accused was tried as an adult and received a sentence that included nearly six years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

The girl later confessed that the rape never happened.

He spent six years falsely imprisoned and broke down when the case was moved to dismissed.

He lost his football career and more importantly his good name, all over false accusations!

The California Innocence Project took up his case and he was ultimately exonerated.

The court ordered the girl to repay the Long Beach Unified School District a sum of $2.6 million, which included the initial settlement of $750,000, legal fees, interest, and punitive damages.

He expressed no ill will toward her, stating that he had moved on from the past.

After his exoneration, he attempted to revive his football career and joined the Atlanta Falcons as a 27-year-old rookie.
