A worshipper was stabbed while praying for a mentally-ill man

A mentally unstable man stabbed a worshipper with a cutlass as he was being taken for deliverance in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria.

“The suspect was brought to church for deliverance session while he picked up a cutlass from the altar and matcheted the victim,” according to reports.

“The man of God claimed he could heal the madman. While he was praying, the madman fought with the pastor and other church members and committed the crime,” reports added.

The suspect was later taken to the hospital for psychiatric evaluation and medication while the victim was rushed to a hospital where he was said to be responding to treatment.

The relatives of the mentally-challenged man had been invited for interrogation.

The state police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident.
