At least 160 people were killed and over 300 injured when bandits attacked and set fire to several villages in central Nigeria.
“The victims were killed in attacks carried out by the armed groups in several villages,” according to reports.
“113 bodies have been recovered and in addition to those killed, more than 300 people were injured and transferred to hospitals,” reports stated.
An initial provisional death toll from the local Red Cross was 104 in 18 villages in the Bokkos region.
According to eyewitness,” the armed groups attacked no less than 20 villages, setting fire to numerous houses”.
“At least 50 people were also killed in four villages in the neighboring Barkin Ladi constituency,” according to Dickson Chollom, an elected member of the local assembly.
