Woman and child died after a water reservoir collapsed

A woman and her nine-day old were killed when a water reservoir fell on a building in Ayedun Area of Akure, the Ondo State capital, Ghana.

“A water reservoir filled with water beside the building fell on it and killed the deceased who were sleeping in the room,” reports said.

Some other occupants of the building were also injured in the incident, a resident said.

“The water reservoir fell on the building, while the woman and her child were sleeping. Before the neighbours got to the scene and evacuated the victims, they had died,” the resident added.

“The victims were evacuated and deposited at a morgue of an undisclosed hospital in Akure,” the resident added.

The Police Public Relations Officers of the state command , Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident, saying investigation had commenced into the incident.
