Schools closed due to new cases of Covid-19

Schools in several US states have been forced to close in recent days due to a high number of coronavirus cases but also because of other viruses, such as the flu.

All classes scheduled to take place Tuesday and Wednesday at schools in the Lee County, Ky., district have been canceled.

On Thursday and Friday, the students had to follow the lessons remotely.

“We are seeing many sick people with symptoms consistent with Covid-19 and the flu,” Scott Lockard, director of public health for the Kentucky River District, which includes Lee County, told ABC News.

“Lee County has seen an increase in the number of cases and the percentage of students in attendance has fallen below the minimum threshold,” he said.

According to NBC News, only 81% of students were in class Monday at county schools, and 14 staff members were absent.
