An 18-year-old boy was found dead as he took his own life in the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria.
“The lifeless body of the boy was found in their sitting room, with a rope around his neck tied to the hook of a ceiling fan,” reports said.
“The deceased younger brother was the one who discovered the scene and raised the alarm,” a resident said.
“A crowd of residents had gathered, even as people from neighbouring streets trooped to the place to confirm if what they heard was true,” reports said.
Parents of the deceased were handed a list of items to buy to enable the elders to perform a land-cleansing ritual for such a thing not to happen again in the community.
The state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident, adding that investigation has commenced to ascertain what could have made him commit suicide.
