Woman arrested for abusing eight-year-old house help

THE Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old mother of three for abusing her eight-year-old house help in the Idemili North local government area of the state, Nigeria.

“The woman battered the young child and inflicted numerous serious injuries on her after a child she was carrying fell while struggling,” reports said.

“The woman was arrested following a trending video and public outcry from the residents of the area who saw the girl with multiple degrees of injuries on her body,” according to the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO Mr Tochukwu Ikenga.

“The CP frowned at such inhuman treatment subjected to some housemaids by their guardians and assured that the command will continue to do everything within its power to protect the vulnerable from such treatment,” he said.

The police have rescued the girl who is in their custody to ensure her safety from where she is receiving treatment in a hospital.

The case will be charged to court after the investigation, assuring that justice will be served.
