The Ambassador of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to Liberia, Josephine Nkrumah, has reported to authorities death threats made against her by a Facebook user, local media reported.
In a letter to Liberia’s Justice Ministry, Ms Nkrumah said the user, identified as Carson, had posted on Facebook urging the mayor of Monrovia to send her ” down six feet”.
The user claimed that the move would draw international attention to the insecurity in Liberia.
Ms Nkrumah told Liberian authorities the comment was seen as a “serious threat” to her life and the staff of the ECOWAS mission in the country.
Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Koijee has blamed his political opponents for spreading false information ahead of the October election.
