Egypt first African military power

Egypt is the leading military power in Africa behind Zimbabwe and ahead of Côte d’Ivoire, according to Global Fire Power.

According to the 2023 edition of the world military ranking, published by the American defense website Global Fire Power (GFP), Egypt is the leading military power in Africa.

Ranked 12th in the world, Egypt is ahead of Algeria and Ethiopia, with a military strength of 470,000 active and 800,000 reservists.

It is currently, along with Qatar, one of the largest buyers of arms in the world.

According to information from Agence Ecofin, this ranking took into account several indices.
