Russia and Ukraine exchanged 200 prisoners

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Wednesday the exchange between Ukraine and Russia of 200 prisoners of war following diplomatic contacts with the Russian and Ukrainian presidents.

President Erdogan says the exchange of prisoners under Turkish mediation is an “important step” towards the ending of war between the two countries.

“Efforts to establish peace between Russia and Ukraine are continuing,” he said.

The President also thanked his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.

“I would also like to thank all my friends who have contributed to this process.” he added.
