Kenya: a high court suspends compulsory vaccine order

A high court in Kenya has suspended a government directive aimed at preventing citizens who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19 from entering administrative buildings or benefiting from state services.

The petition filed by businessman Enock Aura said the directive, which was to be implemented next week, was unconstitutional and discriminatory.

The Minister of Health, Mutahi Kagwe said in November that this measure was aimed at pushing more Kenyans to be vaccinated.

The suspension of the directive also comes days after a number of hotels and malls announced that they would not allow unvaccinated Kenyans into their premises, BBC News reports.
