Great Britain has recorded the first death linked to the new coronavirus Omicron variant, the country’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson has confirmed.
The United Kingdom has recorded the presence of the Omicron variant following the discovery of the variant in South Africa.
The UK has since imposed travel bans to southern African countries in an effort to curb the spread of the virus.

The country has so far recorded more than 10 million total cases of coronavirus, including 146,000 deaths.
