The World Health Organization (WHO) says more than 100,000 health workers have died since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, and that millions are still unvaccinated.
WHO head Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus called the situation an indictment of the countries and companies that controlled global supply, and said members of the G20 group must meet their vaccine- sharing commitments immediately.
The situation is worst in Africa where fewer than one in 10 are vaccinated – and many are working without adequate protective equipment.
