Government in Kenya said it is planning to manufacture covid vaccines locally from next year in partnership with limited companies.
The country will begin with the establishment of a fill-and-finish facility, where vaccines are put into vials and packaged for use.
“We aim to start local production during the first quarter of 2022 and have a fully-fledged human vaccine manufacturing capability by 2024,” Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe is quoted as saying in a National Covid-19 Vaccine Deployment Plan published by the ministry.
More than three million Kenyan have been vaccinated.
