Police in Germany said on Monday they were carrying out a large-scale rescue operation in southern Bavaria to find several people missing in the collapse of a wooden bridge in a flooded stream.
Four people were rescued following the incident in the Höllental Gorge near the Austrian border, a local police spokesperson said.
It is not known whether other people are still missing.
Witnesses said several people were standing on a wooden bridge over the Höllentalklamm when it collapsed, but versions differ on their exact number.
