Russia decides to “slow down” the functioning of Twitter

The Russian regulatory authorities have decided to “slow down” the functioning of the social network Twitter in order to force the social network to delete several thousand messages; a complete blockage could follow.

According to Roskomnadzor, the agency responsible for regulating the Internet in Russia, Twitter has refused to delete more than 3,000 messages deemed child pornography or advocating drugs or suicide by Russian authorities.

The regulatory authority slows down the upload speed of photos and videos. Some users in Russia see no change while others report a delay of a few seconds.
