Schools are still closed in the Democratic Republic of Congo since December 18, 2020. Accoding to the governemnt, this decision is taken to curb the spread of the second wave of the covid-19 pandemic.
The UN agency asks the Congolese government to prioritize the reopening of schools while taking all the necessary measures for the protection of the students.

United Nations Children Fund estimates that the decision to close schools nationwide should only be a measure of last resort. The government however, maintains for its part that the current health situation does not allow the reopening of schools.
