So far spared with 23 000 cases and at least 140 dead recorded, Ivory Coast is facing bad numbers in recent days. However, it would be too early to talk about a second wave.
The progression of the recorded cases of covid-19 since the end of December continues. According to the government, it can be explained by “the massive arrival of holidaymakers from Europe, the festive gatherings of end of year, and the non-respect of the preventive measures”.

The bad numbers do not yet reach the level of June-July peak. However, there are between 200 and 400 cases a day. As a reminder, Ivory Coast intends to vaccinate 5 million people, that is 20% of its population.
