Three suspects arrested for arms smuggling

The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested three people suspected of arms smuggling in Savelugu, in Ghana’s Northern Region.

The suspects were apprehended on May 1, 2025, during an intelligence-led operation carried out at their respective hideouts.

During the arrest, the police retrieved an AK-47 rifle, an SMG, a Smith & Wesson SD40 VE pistol, a single-barrel gun, two magazines, fifteen rounds of AK-47 ammunition, thirteen rounds of pistol ammunition, twenty-seven additional rounds of ammunition, and five BB cartridges.

The suspects are currently in custody assisting police with investigations.

Authorities say they will be processed for court in accordance with the law.
