The Nigerian Army has neutralized 27 terrorists in operations against terrorist organizations Boko Haram and Daech in the country’s northeast.
The Army said on Saturday that it had carried out operations against terrorists in Borno State between January 30 and February 7.
During these operations, 27 terrorists were neutralized and 85 captured.
The security forces succeeded in freeing 44 civilians who had been taken hostage by the terrorists for ransom.
Nigeria has long faced attacks by armed terrorist organizations.
Although kidnapping is punishable by death, kidnapping for ransom is a frequent occurrence in the country.
