Vatican dissolves religious organization in Peru

Accused of multiple misdeeds including sexual abuse of minors, the Peruvian religious organization “Sodalicio de vida cristiana” has been dissolved by Pope Francis.

The Vatican decided to put an end to the activities of this important Peruvian community after 25 years of complaints on charges including sexual violence, financial embezzlement and sadism.

This ultra-conservative organization has almost 20,000 members in Peru, Latin America and the USA.

Founded in 1971 and attached to the Church at the behest of Pope John Paul II in the late 1990s, Sodality of Christian Life has acquired a certain notoriety over the years, to the point of setting up schools, a university and businesses.
