Tunis: Opening of the 10th Journées Musicales de Carthage

The Théâtre de l’Opéra de Tunis (Cité de la Culture) hosted the opening ceremony of the 10th Journées Musicales de Carthage (JMC) on Saturday evening.

This tenth edition, under the direction of artist Dorsaf Hamdani, runs from January 18 to 24, 2025.

The opening ceremony featured the Italian group Ars Nova Napoli, a sextet of street musicians, and Spanish singer La Jose.

Music lovers can look forward to six flagship concerts, featuring the “Tarabband” group (Iraq, Egypt, Sweden), Si Lemhaf (Tunisia), the Jordanian group “Autostrad”, Elida Almeida (Cape Verde), the Palestinian rapper, singer and songwriter Big Sam and the “Chakam” group (Palestine, Iran, France).

Street performances are also scheduled on Avenue Habib Bourguiba, the main thoroughfare of the Tunisian capital, Tunis. There will also be 18 showcases, as well as academic and professional masterclasses and workshops.

JMC is organized by the Etablissement National pour la Promotion des festivals et des manifestations culturelles et artistiques, under the aegis of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. The festival has been organized without competition since the 2021 edition.
