In Guinea Conakry, after the deadly stampede that left at least 56 people dead last Sunday in Nzérékoré, Prime Minister Bah Oury has finally spoken out.
In his speech, the head of government announced that the name of the president of the transition, Mamadi Doumbouya, will no longer be associated with any sporting event whatsoever.
As a reminder, a large-scale crowd movement in the stadium of this town in the south-east of the country, during the final of a tournament bearing the name of the president of the transition, caused more than 56 deaths according to the provisional balance sheet of the authorities and more than 135 according to local NGOs.
