A 24-year-old student and a 10-year-old boy lost their lives in a terrible fire that broke out in their home in Bouaké, Ivory Coast, on the night of Wednesday, December 4, 2024.
According to reports, the fire broke out at around 6 a.m., surprising the five occupants of the house.
While the parents and another daughter managed to escape, the two youngest family members, a master’s student at Alassane Ouattara University and a third-grader, were trapped inside and lost their lives in the flames.
Despite the rapid intervention of the fire department, the house was completely destroyed by the flames.
The precise causes of the fire are still unknown, and an investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy.
In addition to the loss of human life, the fire caused significant material damage. The family’s possessions were reduced to ashes, resulting in financial losses estimated at 11 million FCFA.
This tragedy has deeply shocked the Bouaké community, underlining once again the importance of fire prevention and the installation of adequate home safety systems in Ivory Coast.
