Mahamudu Bawumia versus John Dramani Mahama, the duel that’s shaping up for the presidential election in Ghana on December 7.
After two terms at the head of the country, Nana Akufo-Addo is stepping down in accordance with the Constitution.
And the battle promises to be a close one between his successor and his predecessor.
Who will win?
According to Francis Kpatindé, a former senior UN official in Ghana and now a lecturer at Sciences Po Paris, the two men have a lot in common.
They are both in their sixties, both from northern Ghana and both experienced. Mahamudu Bawumia and John Dramani Mahama are known for their level-headedness. They have a good head on their shoulders.
But, in his view, the advantage could go to former President Mahama, particularly in view of the seriousness of the economic crisis and inflation, which are blamed on the outgoing team.
