French President Emmanuel Macron will take part in the commemorative festivities for Tirailleur Day in Dakar, Senegal, the French President’s office has confirmed.
The event will mark the 80th anniversary of the massacre of Senegalese riflemen on December 1, 1944.
Emmanuel Macron will be in Dakar at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
President Macron announced his participation in this commemoration in his speech on November 21, delivered on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Provence landings.
