The Niger army had neutralized ten terrorists during an operation in the village of Mountséka, in the Tahoua region (west), according to reports.
The latter were part of a convoy of twenty motorcycles carrying armed men, which was crossing the Niger towards Nigeria.
An Air Force aircraft spotted the suspicious convoy near the Malian border and followed it to the Mountséka area, close to the Nigerian border.
The information provided was immediately passed on to the ground forces, enabling an intervention unit to set up an ambush.
The operation resulted in the destruction of five motorcycles, the seizure of two others, as well as six Kalashnikov assault rifles and a crate containing 1,500 rounds of ammunition.
This coordinated interception inflicted heavy losses on the assailants.
