Somalia: three dead after a bomb explosion

Two security guards and a pedestrian were killed and three others wounded following a roadside bomb explosion targeting military vehicles in the Somali capital, Mogadishu.

The attack, which took place in the Daynile district of Mogadishu, killed two members of the security forces and a civilian, said Ali Ahmed, a security official in Mogadishu.

Three other people were injured in the blast and taken to hospital for treatment.

Ali Ahmed added that police and personnel from other security agencies had arrived at the scene and launched an investigation into the incident.

Responsibility for the attack has been claimed by the Al-Shabaab terrorist group, which has been fighting the government and African Union peacekeeping forces since 2007.
