Ivory Coast: massive food poisoning at a party

A birthday party turned sour when 60 guests fell victim to food poisoning in Adiopodoumé, in the commune of Songon, Ivory Coast.

Severe symptoms, including severe diarrhoea, acute abdominal pain, vomiting and fever, appeared shortly after eating the food, with the birthday cake suspected to be the source of contamination.

The victims were taken to various health centers in the region, including the PMI hospital in Yopougon, where treatment was quickly administered to stabilize their condition.

An investigation is underway to identify the contaminant and establish the precise circumstances of this mass poisoning.

This incident highlights the importance of complying with hygiene standards when preparing and storing food, especially during large-scale events.
