Baltasar Ebang Engonga, at the heart of a scandal following the release of intimate videos, has been dismissed from his position as Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF) by a presidential decree signed on November 4, 2024 by Equatorial Guinean President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
Decree no. 118/2024 removes Baltasar Ebang Engonga, who has been embroiled in a double controversy involving embezzlement of public funds and a sex scandal.
Videos showing him in explicit acts, filmed in official offices, have circulated widely online, provoking a strong reaction.
The Vice President, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, denounced this behavior as seriously damaging to the image of the public administration and promised strict sanctions against all officials involved.
With this dismissal, Equatorial Guinea is sending a message of firmness. Sources close to the investigation point to the existence of over 400 videos, showing Baltasar Ebang Engonga in compromising situations, with several partners and in various locations, including administrative offices.
