In Senegal, the government has decided to suspend peanut seed exports from November 15 for the 2024-2025 season, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Equipment announced on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
The aim of this decision is to prevent any competition between exports and local marketing, the Ministry said.
During the 2022-2023 season, Senegal had exported 33,000 tonnes of peanuts, generating revenues estimated at 150 billion CFA francs (around $244.8 million), according to data provided by the ministry at the 8th forum of the Collectif des producteurs et exportateurs de graines d’arachide (COPEGA).
China remains the main importer of Senegalese groundnuts, the country’s fourth largest export.
