13 criminals arrested in Burkina Faso

In Burkina Faso, a large-scale gendarmerie operation has resulted in the arrest of several individuals and the seizure of a large number of weapons and other items.

Following numerous complaints of armed robbery, the gendarmerie launched an investigation, focusing on the Bassinko, Gambre-yaare, Marcoussis and Yagma districts which led to the arrest of several suspects.

According to reports, “these individuals mainly targeted stores, poorly-lit areas and the vicinity of inns.”

“Armed with pistols, knives and imitation weapons, they threatened their victims to steal motorcycles, telephones and other valuables, which they then resold or dismantled for parts,” reports added.

During searches, the gendarmes seized five automatic pistols, knives, four motorcycles, spare parts and a laptop computer.

The suspects will shortly be presented to the Procureur du Faso.

Investigations are continuing to find four accomplices on the run and to dismantle any network linked to these acts.
