A robbery claimed the life of one policeman and injured two others in Kwame Peprakrom, in the Upper Denkyira East municipality in Ghana’s Central Region.
Residents are living in fear and panic following the fatal shooting.
Armed robbers reportedly attacked the Police patrol team, resulting in the tragic death of an officer with the Dunkwa Divisional Police Armory.
“The Assembly member for the area, Nana Yaw Amoako, called for security measures to be heightened, including a police checkpoint,” Adom News said.
According to him, the robbers often strike during power outages in the community.
“It has happened severally. When the light goes off, the robbery operation starts on the road. We need a Police checkpoint to ensure our safety,” he said.
Meanwhile, some residents said they’re finding it difficult to go about their daily activities, including farming, due to the constant threat of armed robbery.
They bemoaned they cannot continue to live in fear in their own town and must feel safe.
Currently, the injured officers who are in critical condition are receiving treatment at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
