Senegal: Macky Sall’s former bodyguard in custody

The head of security for former Senegalese President Macky Sall’s party (2012-2024) was arrested on the night of September 18, 2024 for investigation, acoording to reports.

His name is said to have been mentioned several times in the testimonies of victims of the crackdown on opposition protests between March 2021 and February 2024, reports the same source.

The suspect could be questioned about a case that has been pending since November 2021 concerning the disappearance of two Senegalese army non-commissioned officers.

The suspect was in charge of security for the Alliance pour la République (APR), the party of former Senegalese president Macky Sall.

He was also the bodyguard of various ministers and personalities of the ex-president’s party.
