At least two people have died after a two-storey building collapsed in the Nomansland area of Sabon Gari, Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State, Nigeria, according to reports.
Many others were injured and were rescued in the ongoing rescue operation.
The incident have occurred following several hours of a downpour that caused flooding due to the overflow of a nearby waterway.
The Public Relations Officer, Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, said so far two survivors had been rescued as the rescue operation continued.
On the number of casualties, Abdullahi said he could not confirm the number of deaths until after the rescue operation was completed.
“We are doing everything possible to ensure that no one is left behind in this tragedy,” said Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, spokesperson for the Fire Service.
