Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa, visited Niamey on Wednesday August 28 for the first time to met his Nigerien counterpart since the coup d’état against former Nigerien President Mohamed Bazoum in July last year.
Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, was welcomed with honours at Niamey Air Base 101.
The visit marks the normalization of relations between the two countries.
Faced with the terrorist threat in the Sahel, Nigerian General Moussa Salao Barmou and his Nigerian counterpart have decided to collaborate on “joint military operations” and “intelligence sharing”.
The Nigerian army has also announced that it will play an active role in the Mixed Multinational Force, also made up of Nigerian, Chadian and Cameroonian soldiers.
