The airline Air Sénégal has suspended flights to Cameroon and Gabon as it goes through a period of financial turbulence due to a colossal debt estimated at 100 billion FCFA.
The suspension begins on September 19, 2024, in order to restructure.
“U.S. lessor Carlyle Aviation has obtained a court order to ground four aircraft leased by Senegal’s national airline,” reports Airplusnews.
“The company is claiming nearly $10 million (6.5 billion FCFA) from Air Sénégal,” reports added.
These financial difficulties are compounded by frequent delays, repeated flight cancellations and logistical problems. Air Sénégal is also in arrears with other creditors, including Bpifrance and Euler Hermes.
