Libyan Central Bank resumes operations after release of senior official

The Central Bank of Libya (CBL) announced that it has resumed operations, following the release of its top official who was kidnapped earlier on Sunday.

CBL confirmed the release of the head of its information technology department Musaab Muslam, who was taken on Sunday by an “unknown party.”

“Governor Sadiq Kabir, had held a meeting with the department’s managers,” the bank said in the statement, adding they had discussed the latest developments following the release of Muslam and his safe return.

The bank put pressure on the kidnappers, saying it would not resume operations until Mr Musaab was released.
