14 injured after plane misses take-off

A B737/300 airliner chartered by Air Sénégal missed its takeoff at 01:00 on Thursday morning, injuring 11 people, including 4 seriously, according to reports.

The incident occurred at Blaise Diagne International Airport in Diass, some 40 km from the capital Dakar, when the aircraft overshot its runway and came to a complete stop.

“78 passengers were on board and 11 were injured, including 04 seriously. 6 other slightly injured passengers were admitted for observation at the airport’s medical services”, according to reports.

The other passengers were evacuated and cared for, as part of an emergency plan drawn up for the occasion.

“The flight to Bamako had 85 people on board, including 79 passengers, 2 pilots and 4 cabin crew”, reports added.

An investigation has been opened to determine the causes and responsibilities.
